Thank you so, much for joining us and Sista Scifi at The World as It Could Be with best-selling author Nnedi Okorafor and Kemi Ashing-Giwa. It was truly an unforgettable evening of storytelling, imagination, and community in support of Chapter 510.

Together, through ticket sales and generous gifts at the event, you helped raise $25,000 to power our free creative writing programs for Black, brown, and queer youth in Oakland.

Aida, our brilliant youth author, led the evening with grace and power — facilitating a conversation with Nnedi and Kemi that reminded us all of storytelling’s powerful role in imagining better futures.

We are so grateful to Nnedi for stopping off in Oakland on her international Death of an Author book tour. We thank Sistah Scifi and the Oakland Public Library for their collaboration, and Kaiser Permanente for making this event possible.
