Chapter 510 Story Appointment Field trips for ousd 3rd–5th Graders

REGISTER HERE FOR A FIELD TRIP!

Our Story Appointments are back! Sign up to bring your class on a field trip to Chapter 510 & the Dept. of Make / Believe to write a book!

Starting February 13th, 2026 through May 15th, 2026 we are offering field trip opportunities for 3rd–5th grade OUSD classrooms! We welcome all Title 1 OUSD schools, particularly schools in West Oakland, Chinatown, Downtown, and East Oakland, but are open to all Oakland schools, so register away!

Each field trip will guide students in a collaborative storytelling adventure, teaching narrative along the way. Each writer will finish their own "very original" ending to the collaborative story and will leave the writing center an author! Each writer will receive their very own, bureaucratically approved and professionally illustrated book by the end of the field trip (delivered by magical bureaucrats possibly disguised as animals).

Field Trip includes/what you get:

• A fun and impactful interactive writing, storytelling and bookmaking experience

• Experience in collective story making

• Each student walks away with their own published and bound book written by them

• Writing support from a team of Chapter 510 staff and mentors

• A professional illustrator who live illustrates their book

The field trip will run from 10am-1:30pm. Feel free to bring your lunches to enjoy in the Swan's Market Courtyard after!
