ABOUT THE PERFORMERS

Brittany Tanner

Brittany Tanner is a music artist, mother, creative, and entrepreneur based in the Bay Area. Her work centers on community enrichment through healing arts.

The Poetic Activist

Porsche Veu aka The Poetic Activist is an unapologetic author, spoken word poet, speaker, educator, and artist of many talents from Oakland, Ca. With a passion for God, social justice, women & Black empowerment, and mental health, she aims to bridge the gap between faith & social justice, create brave atmospheres for uncomfortable conversations, and inspire others to find freedom in telling their own stories using poetry, motivational speaking, workshops, and music.

Porsche has been invited to speak, perform, and teach in numerous companies and organizations such as TED Talk, Google, Adobe, Apple, YWCA, and Center for Independent Living, as well as a host of colleges, churches, festivals, conferences, and more. She has also featured on many podcasts, panels, and creative projects, including the 2020 CA Census campaign.

After sharing her mental health poem “Caesar: A Poem About Suicide” in 2017, Porsche has evolved into an artist and speaker who heavily encourages vulnerability and helps others fight the shame attached to their trauma that keeps them from healing. Her first, self-published poetry book 2 Kinds of Fire (2019) is a testament to her belief that vulnerability is a superpower. Her ultimate goal is to challenge toxic, societal norms and help people erase shame and tell their story.

Alie Jones

Alie Jones is a writer, artist, and Creole mermaid. She is the author of Saltwater Moonshine, a poetry collection that honors her matrilineal Creole heritage through poetry, music, and reflections of love. Alie is passionate about centering our breath work as sacred and hopes to build a legacy of awareness and expression.

She is the Director and Co-founder of Black Freighter Press, a revolutionary press committed to the exploration of liberation.

Alie graduated with her MFA in Creative Writing and Literature from Mills College. She received her MPA from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies and BA in Cinematic Arts & Technology from CSU Monterey Bay and a minor in Creative Writing and Social Action.

She is the host of the podcast called Chit Chat with Aliecat, exploring self-care practices & journeys of self-love.
