MAY 2022 ISSUE: questioning by naomi mcbride

Questioning

Life is home and home is life
In this life, I knew who I was
I knew morals, happiness
In this life, I knew honesty,
and I know that I lost myself
Because in this life, I know
this journey that we call grief
will be a long process
I ask myself
Does home include grief?
Has grief made a home in me?
I question and ignore
I knew my happiness at home
home with friends
home with Louie
but I am not alone
because as long as I am alive,
I will be my home

Naomi McBride, age 13
