ABOUT NEW DAWN RISING
The year is 2050, thirty years after ten young screenwriters penned their visions for the new dawn. Have their visions of meteor blasts, artificial intelligence, and new species come to fruition? Written under the guidance of teaching artist and author Tiffany Golden, these shorts create a world brimming with all the urgency, candor, and vision of the world that is to come. Praise for New Dawn Rising

"In the New Dawn Rising Sci-Fi script anthology, several young writers give us a glimpse into a not-so-distant future in 2050. The scripts explore extraterrestrial life, entering new worlds through portals and monocles, complex family relationships, and the increasing surveillance of the online world and apps in our everyday lives. With specific prose and imagery, this collection of scripts helps us envision a world beyond the borders and limitations of our present circumstances, and creates a vast landscape of possibility and imagination."
- Nijla Mu'min (writer/filmmaker)

”The sooner we take narrative control of our own stories, the sooner we begin to shape futures that have room for us in them. That's why I am so excited by this collection of screenplays by Oakland students, centering the voices of youth of color. They are forecasting how we will navigate a future where we, individually and collectively, are the protagonists.”
