About Chapter 510
Chapter 510 is a made-in-Oakland youth writing & publishing center. Our teaching artists and volunteers work side-by-side with educators to provide a safe space and supportive community for young people ages 6-18 to bravely write. Our vision is that every young person in Oakland learns to write with confidence and joy.
Speaking of joy, we find joy in a good game of trivia, which is why we’re starting a new annual tradition that we want you to be a part of—Trivia for Cheaters!
About Trivia for Cheaters
In this one-of-a-kind fundraiser, teams of 4-5 raise $1,000 to support Chapter 510 in the weeks leading up to the event to build their trivia cheat banks. The more money a team raises beyond the $1,000 goal, the more cheats you’ll earn to use against your opponents during the event. The competition is fierce, but all in good fun. And don’t worry—you can always purchase additional cheats the night-of, too!
All proceeds from the event will benefit Chapter 510’s free writing programs for Oakland children and youth, help us close the educational opportunity gap that exists between wealthy and low-income students, and inspire countless stories written about the generosity of our community of donors. (Well, we can’t promise the last one, but you’ll definitely make a difference in some young writers’ lives.)
So huddle up! Choose your team today and sign up to play on November 14, 2019. Our students are counting on you to cheat your way to victory!
The Finer Print
Teams can be comprised of 4-5 players. Each team has a combined fundraising goal of $1,000 to play. The more money you raise, the more cheats you earn. There will be prizes for the top team of fundraisers as well as the winning team. All players will have a chance to win additional prizes at the event.
If you’d like to sponsor this event, provide prizes and loot for our winners, or learn more about Chapter 510, contact Jessica Blair, Development Director.
