Parcel Projects

Erik Bloom & Todd Bennett are the owners and architects of our building here at 2301 Telegraph Avenue. In 2015, they gave Chapter 510 a home, it changed everything. They're also helping us build & design our future facility, 3,500 sq/ft space within their big four-story vision which will be complete in 2019.

House/Full of Black Women

A site-specific ritual performance project that addresses issues of displacement, well being, and sex trafficking of black women and girls in Oakland. Chapter 510 has partnered with House/Full to create events at our center and two books, House/Full of Black Girls Dreaming and Dreaming of Spring.

MetWest High School

A Big Picture Learning school in the Oakland Unified School District. It currently serves 160 students, who, with the help of their advisor, design an individualized learning plan focused on their interests and
passions. The core of this plan includes offsite internships and classes at nearby Laney College.Chapter 510 provides one-on-one tutoring support for MetWest High School to strengthen writing skills and increase confidence and learning opportunities.

ACORN Woodland Elementary

A small K-5 in East Oakland in the Oakland Unified School District. Chapter 510 provides bilingual creative writing and bookmaking workshops, publishing opportunities, and field trips including the Write All Day Epic Poetry extravaganza to the students of ACORN Woodland.

North Oakland Community Charter School

The North Oakland Community Charter School (NOCCS) is a public K-8 school dedicated to helping children to become thoughtful, informed, and inquisitive citizens.  Chapter 510 provides teaching artists to lead creative writing and bookmaking workshops for K-5 students.

Hoover STEAM Academy

Hoover STEAM Academy is a 21st century TK-8 school in West Oakland that develops independent thinkers and lifelong learners who have the skills and mindset to graduate from college and make a positive impact on their community. Chapter 510 provides creative writing and bookmaking workshops, publishing opportunities, and field trips to Hoover students.

Oakland Public Library

The Oakland Public Library has been a service of the City of Oakland since 1878. They have 16 branches, a Main Library, a Second Start Adult Literacy Program, the Tool Lending Library, and the African-American Museum and Library. Chapter 510 partners with OPL's Youth Poet Laureate program and conducts writing workshops at library centers.

Oakland Education Fund

The Oakland Public Education Fund leads the development and investment of community resources in Oakland public schools. It is the only organization that raises money for all Oakland Public Schools. Chapter 510 partners with the OEA for volunteer onboarding.

California College of the Arts

CCA is an art, design, architecture, and writing school founded in 1907. They have two campuses in San Francisco and Oakland. Chapter 510 partners with the CCA Center For Art + Public Life and their ENGAGE at CCA and CCA CONNECTS programs.

Wordland Design is a brand and content strategy company based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded by Margot Merrill Fernandez, a leader in the content strategy industry,  Wordland helps clients solve complex business problems through strategic design and content, and they're helping Chapter 510 as our pro-bono content strategy so we can better tell our story and amplify our student's voices.
